ISIAKA ADELEKE'S STATUE/CHANGE OF STATE LOGO: Akin Adeyi lambasts Governor Adeleke again! A security expert in Osun State who is also a chieftain of the State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Mr Akin Adeyi, has carpeted the state Governor Ademola Adeleke of brazenly wasting of the resources of the state on mundane projects which amount to misplaced priority at a time in the history of the state that poverty has become endemic in the lives of the people of the state. It would be recalled that Adeleke had erected a full size statue of his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adetunji Adeleke, former governor of Osun State, in front of the state government secretariat, Abere, Osun State, where he also hangs the small bursts of all the past governors of the state including the military administrators round the round about where the imposing statue of his late brother is erected. It would also be recalled that Governor Adeleke has started the process of changing the official logo of the state from the State of the Virtuous to the State of The Living Spring by writing to the state House of Assembly about his intention to change the logo. In his remark, Adeyi stated that there was absolutely no justifiable reason for Governor Adeleke to have made a towering statue for his late brother governor while others are the sizes of enlarged passport photographs. The security expert questioned Governor Adeleke on what message he was trying to pass by making the full statue of his brother while making the other former governors' own in small sizes? Adeyi explained that it was wasteful and puerile of Governor Adeleke to have invested the state's resources in the region of several millions of naira to promote his brother in death to the detriment of the other governors who have enviable records of performance to their tenure. The APC chieftain observed that by the governor's action, he has turned the running of the affairs of the state into his extended family enterprise which is antithetical to the ideal democratic endeavour in a civilized society. He demanded the worthwhile outstanding contributions of former Governor Isiaka Adeleke to the development of the state in his 23-month occupation of the political headship of the state that could have made his brother, Ademola, to idolize him over the other verifiably performing civilian governors and military administrators with the resources of the state? Adeyi demanded the propriety of the state government led by Governor Adeleke to have expended such an outrageous amount of state money on his brother's statue at a time that a sizeable number of the people of the state cannot boast of three square meals daily because of the effect of the removal of the fuel subsidy? He explained that there is no any other name for the state money being wasted on the statue of Governor Adeleke's brother other than an obvious misplaced priority because of lack of indepth thinking of the governor and his handlers. According to Adeyi, the same is applicable to the ongoing process of the governor's effort to change the logo of the state when it is visible to discerning minds that the effort would not add any value for the people and the state. According to the security expert: "What some people were complaining of before was the tampering with the legacy projects of former Governor Rauf Aregbesola by former Governor Oyetola, it is however, strange and funny that the same projects are being completely deleted by Governor Adeleke. "Governor Adeleke should stop dealing with mundane projects and give the people he swore to govern effectively qualitative governance in order to make a positive and visible change in the lives of the people as it is the practice in other states", Adeyi. He reminded Adeleke that the gigantic state secretariat in front of which he erected his brother's statue was constructed by Chief Bisi Akande, former state governor, while the road on which the statue was erected was rehabilitated and dualized by former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola and it is a statement of fact that it was former Governor Rauf Aregbesola who designed and constructed the roundabout. According to the security expert: "So if these are the true position of things, should the people who did those things have erected the statues of the entire members of their families at the roundabout? "It is expected that the Adelekes would later insult the collective intelligence of the people of Osun when they will come up on one day to erect the statue of the late Alhaji Aderemi Saani, his brother in-law, at the popular Olaiya Junction in Osogbo, the state capital.
